Our “Classic Update Series Wiring System” is the simplest way to update your classic car’s wiring. In basic terms, this system allows you to rewire your car or truck with the customized upgrades you want installed. Upgrades may include: newer steering column, reproduction tail light assembly, updated gauges, etc. This system has been designed with the power capabilities necessary to run separate options. Our “Classic Update Series Wiring Systems” are not a fits-all system. They are custom manufactured for specific year & model vehicle. They are a complete car wiring system, designed with the foresight, engineering and flexibility to bring your car’s electrical system up-to-date. When you install this system, you will determine the routing of the wires to fit your needs. The Classic Update Series wiring kit, now designed specifically for your car. Built with the same foresight and engineering as all of our popular Classic Update Series kits. This kit accommodates all the popular accessories available to bring your truck’s electrical system up to date. Working with major equipment manufacturers such as Vintage Air, Hot Rod Air, Pacific Western “Raingear”, Dakota Digital, Autometer, Teleflex, Beede, Stewart Warner, ldidit, and Flaming River to name just a few, we have engineered a kit that easily interfaces with after market accessories as well as reproduced original taillight, headlight, and running light assemblies. In keeping with the design of the “Classic Update Series” kits, there is still complete flexibility in engine compartment and body wire routing for the custom touch. As with every Classic Update Series kit, only the best components and detailed installation instructions are utilized in building the most complete kit offered. 1 Replacement headlight switch with internal 30 amp circuit breaker included. Retention collar nut, adjustable lenght shaft, and custom knob are also included. 2 Standard turn signal flasher, hazard flasher, and horn relay mounted on fuse panel. 3 Fuse box designed to fit in original location. All required hardware supplied. New ATO fuse allow easy fuse and circuit breaker accessibility. Harness is laid out and formed to allow for nearly all after market accessories such as; gauge packages, wiper systems, heat and air conditioning systems, etc. 4 Original switch connector bodies! 5 Steering column connectors will plug directly into most after market steering columns as well as 1969 and later GM columns which utilize stock GM turn signal switches The original column can also be wired by using the supplied mating connector and terminals. 6 Along with wiring for your original dome/interior lighting we have included separate underdash light sockets. 7 Instrument Cluster wiring is designed with a cluster harness disconnect system for easy service and assembly. All original terminals, connectors (exclusively from American Autowire), and light sockets are also supplied for original cluster gauges. However, the best aspect of the disconnect system is that any gauge cluster package can be easily and neatly wired in. This includes AUTOMETER, CLASSIC INSTRUMENTS, COVAN CLASSICS, DAKOTA DIGITAL, STEWART WARNER, and VDO just to name a few. 8 Rear body harness assembly is designed to plug into the main harness in the original connector bodies. Flexibility in harness design allows for original or custom routing. Rear body wiring includes backup light wires and mating connectors for backup light leads. License plate lead, connectors, and terminals included. Fuel tank sender wire and terminal included. You’ll find all the original style light socket pigtails packed into every aspect of this system making it the most complete system of it’s type in the industry! 10 New floor dimmer switch is provided. Wire length and connection accommodate original floor mount dimmer switch. Original bulkhead connector for the engine and front light wiring is included and ready for installation. Original routing of the new harness without any body modifications! 12 Engine wiring includes connectors for original points type as well as H. Power and tach connectors supplied for GM H. Alternator connectors are supplied for GM “SI” series internally regulated alternators. GM “CS” series alternator adapter is available separately. 13 Front lighting includes extra long leads for special routing when custom under hood appearance is desired. All headlight, park light and directional light connectors and terminals are provided, as well as a switched trigger wire for electric fan relay (usually recommended with AC). NOTE: This kit will not support an ammeter. You must convert your ammeter to a voltmeter, or use an aftermarket voltmeter. This kit only supports a self-exciting (1-wire) alternator or GM SI internally-regulated alternator. Any LS1 from 2004 Pontiac GTO. DRIVE BY CABLE THROTTLE ONLY. Factory Speedometer, Tachometer, Coolant Temperature Gauge, Alternator Warning light, wipers and reverse lights remain functional. Optional Factory Gauge Sensor Adapter is needed to retain the factory BMW Oil Pressure cluster functionality. The adapter is also machined to support most aftermarket temperature and pressure gauges that require a 1/8-27 thread pitch. Will require the use of 1-wire. LS PCM Tachometer Adjustment – The LS1 PCM Startup Tune includes setup of the tachometer signal to work on your chassis. Signal conditioning is generally not required. Startup PCM Flash Tune. GM LS1 PCMs require basic tuning in order to run the LSx engine in a different chassis such as the 240sx, 300zx, Datsun etc. The VATS alarm or Immobilizer will prevent the engine from starting unless it is disabled. The standard base startup tune is VATS / EVAP / Rear O2 / Fuel Tank Purge removal. Most tunes leave the other parameters stock. No performance settings are changed with this startup tune – fuel map changes are NOT part of this service. Alternator Charge Cable – This item ties the starter/battery directly to the Alternator output, which allows the improved power routing on our harness to eliminate the wire running from the alternator to the fusebox and/or battery while still charging the battery normally. Grounding Kit – Our Kit ties a number if engine components to the body of the car and ensures that you will not have issues resulting from poor grounds. The Grounding Kit utilizes Ultra High temp fiberglass sleeving to allow installation under or around exhaust components. Very flexible mounting options allow you to connect the block, head, battery tray, alternator case and chassis to completely eliminate all grounding issues. Speedo Signal Conditioning – The Dakota Digital SGI-5 unit for Speed can’condition’ the signal to compensate for cross-platform swaps. If the Option exists to ADD the unit on the harness page for your swap, then you need it for proper speedo operation. Please note that some transmissions (350z, BMW ZF and S15 Silvia for example) do not have a speed sensor and will require a non-harness based solution like a GPS speedo. Plug-n-Play vs Universal – Plug-n-Play harnesses connect to your car’s underhood fuse box for power and to connectors under the dash for gauges etc. Universal harnesses do not need an underhood fusebox to connect to and the wiring for gauges and warning lights is provided as a’flying lead’ which are bare wires labeled with their function. Right Hand Drive (RHD) Conversions – If you used ALL the stock LHD chassis connectors for your RHD swap, order the LHD version of the harness. If you used ALL the clip/swap RHD chassis connectors, order the RHD version of the harness. Don’t See It? Chances are we can do it! Battery Cables / Battery Relocation – The battery must be connected to the starter, so you need a battery cable from the positive battery terminal to the starter main power lug. Typically this positive battery cable also powers up the main under hood fusebox, which runs many of the non-engine items on your car like interior lights, dash power and headlights/taillights.
